EMAIL SENT HOME APRIL 21
Good afternoon students,
Spring is my favorite time of year.  There is a large picture window near my desk, when I look outside I can see the trees budding, the fruit trees blossoming and the tulips and daffodils ablaze in color.  Spring is a time of renewal.  In school, Spring is often seen as a time of closure, but if we take our clues from nature this is, in fact, a time of renewal. Spring is the perfect time to make sure you are on track to blossom into the person you want to become.  If you’re behind in your school work don’t give up, work harder, reach out and ask your parents, your teachers, me for help.   If you’re on track, keep up the good work, the end goal, your learning, your success is worth it!  If you're done smell the blossoms- you deserve it!
This is your second email for the week. The purpose of this email is the same as that of this entire series of emails, to  inspire and motivate you to make the most of your education while at the same time encouraging you to complete quality work in a timely manner by the end of the academic school year.
This email is accompanied by a three minute video available below.  While watching the video make note of the following:
  • Part I Elon Musk:  Why did Elon Musk succeed?
  • Part II, Jack Ma  Your life is a testament to the fact that nothing is ….?
  • Part III, Stuart Scott: What are the most poignant words in any speech?
  • Part IV, Steve Jobs: You have to _____ that the dots will connect somewhere down the road.
  • Part V, Will Smith: Confucius said “He who says he can, and he who says he can’t are both usually ________”
  • Part VI, Jared Leto: Very few people try and try and try and do and do and do and never give up, and those are the people who ultimately __________.
  • Part VII, Les Brown: The people that are living their dreams are the people who know if it’s going to happen it’s up to ________.
You received an earlier video this week (& copied below) Once you’ve watched both videos you will have another opportunity to earn a weekly prize. The form itself for participating in the drawing is available below.
All surveys for the free drawing must be completed by 8:00 a.m. Monday 4/26.  You will be informed later that same day if you won.
Best wishes,
Mrs. Ness

VIdeo I: Countdown to the end of the year

Dear Students,

Good Morning and Welcome Back!  It’s appropriate that Spring Break flew- the past year has flown.  As of this writing you have 30 school days remaining.  Many of you are coming close to completing your course work, others of you are rushing to catch up.  Wherever you find yourself, don’t forget the goal.  The purpose of school is to learn, as such it’s not too late to complete the course work and learn the content.  If you’re behind- get working, if you’re on top of it, keep it up.  You’ve got this!  Please note, I have not yet graded the course work completed over Spring Break, it will take me a couple of days.  Continue to move forward as I catch up on the grading.  Lastly you will receive a second email from me on Wednesday, it will include a link to the weekly survey and drawing for a free assignment or/ gift card.

Best,
Mrs. Ness
